It drives like a european sedan and its edgy styling stands out in a sea of boxy sport-utilities and minivans. Yet the srx is quite practical. It can carry up to seven passengers, and its flat, carpeted cargo area works great for hauling cargo. its sharp handling, quick acceleration and high-performance braking make for a sporty, enjoyable experience with a smooth, extremely quiet ride. the srx comes trimmed with leather upholstery and is loaded with luxury features. The interior is stylish and comfortable. Its flat cargo floor makes the srx a good dog car. srx is available with a v6 or v8 engine. The v8s are smooth and confident and deliver brilliant acceleration for a vehicle of this size. All-wheel drive is available and we've found that the srx performs superbly in the snow. overall improvements to the srx for 2007 include an all-new cockpit with new design, materials and hand-crafted assembly process. Cadillac also has mated the northstar v8-equipped models to a new fully electronic six-speed automatic transmission for 2007. The base audio system for the srx has now been upgraded to bose for 2007. new options for 2007 include a sport package with 20-inch wheels, all-wheel drive and limited slip differential; a bose 5. 1 digital surround sound option; a theater option package with bose 5. 1 digital surround sound, navigation and rear-seat entertainment; an automatic odor filtration option; and passenger side inflatable restraint (psir) suppression, which detects the occupant's size and, in turn, enables or disables the air bag automatically. lineupthe cadillac srx comes in two models differentiated by their engines, a 255-hp v6 or a 320-hp v8. Station wagon fans think wagons are more sophisticated than sport utilities, possibly because they are. The srx straddles the middle. It has the function and driving performance of a wagon, but a look (and higher seating position) that's suggestive an suv. Its ride, handling and technology are more sophisticated than most truck-based suvs. the srx features cadillac's edgy art and science design philosophy, introduced on the cts sedan. People tend to love it or hate it. The srx looks modern, even futuristic, but doesn't neglect cadillac's heritage. It was inspired by the original el dorado, with its exuberant tailfins, that debuted in 1959. Love it or hate it, it's bold and unabashedly american. At 41 inches, it has more rear legroom than other midsize luxury sport-utilities and as much rear hip room as the roomy acura mdx. five-passenger seating is standard, with individual seats in front and a three-place bench in back. The second seat powers back and forth for more legroom or more cargo space. More suvs should have this feature. The cargo area in the five-passenger model can be outfitted with covered storage spaces built into the floor. seven-passenger seating is achieved by ordering the optional third-row bench seat. This third row gives srx an edge on many of its competitors, including the infiniti fx and lexus rx. Yet the srx's third seat provides less room, including legroom, than those in the acura mdx and volvo xc90. The cadillac's third-row seat folds flat into the floor with the press of a button. Adding greatly to convenience, buttons to accomplish this are provided near the rear hatch and on the pillar just behind the second row of seats. The third row comes with storage bins and cup holders. Each row of seats sits higher than the one in front of it, theater style, so everyone can see out. luggage space is about average for the class but it lays out better than most with a nice, flat cargo floor. The cargo floor behind the second row , is dog-friendly, which makes the srx an excellent vehicle for the fur-bearing members of the family. Roof rails come standard to expand cargo-carrying capability. storage cubbies abound, including covered front door compartments, front door map pockets, front seatback pockets, a front center console with two compartments, a bin behind the front console and a glove box with a shelf. New for 2007 is the addition of a storage compartment on the passenger side of the instrument panel. There are cup holders in the front seat center console and second seat fold-down armrest. The srx also has rear coat hooks that are accessible from both the rear passenger doors and liftgate, whichever proves more convenient when picking up the dry cleaning. srx's interior electronics and entertainment are enhanced for 2007, including a standard bose audio system on all srx models. In addition, the renowned bose 5. 1 digital surround system is available as an option. A full line of luxurious and highly capable suvs. introductionthe cadillac escalade is big and powerful, capable of towing trailers of 7500 to 8300 pounds. In its most popular configuration, the escalade seats seven. It's a stylish truck, with a bold yet smooth, integrated, sculpted look. escalade comes in three body styles: escalade, esv, and ext. The standard escalade is a full-size sport utility sharing the same architecture and roughly the same dimensions as the chevy tahoe. the esv is a long-wheelbase version of the escalade. Similar in size to the chevy suburban, the esv is 20 inches longer than the regular escalade. That adds up to more third-row seating room and nearly triple the cargo space behind the third-row seats. Plus, middle passengers get windows that roll all the way down. The wheelbase is 14 inches longer, which smoothes the ride. the escalade ext is a five-passenger luxury suv with a short bed; it is cadillac's version of the chevy avalanche and features the impressive midgate that converts the rear seats into additional pickup space. A removable window and midgate behind the rear seat make for versatile hauling options, including a pair of dirt bikes, 101 cubic feet of lockable space, or 4x8 building materials. Its combination of luxury and capability makes for an interesting hauler or tow vehicle. all escalade versions are roomy and luxuriously appointed, letting them haul family or friends or business associates in real comfort. The engine supplies serious power for surprisingly quick acceleration. On the road, all escalades are smooth and stable. They ride smoother than a standard tahoe or suburban; but are at the same time taut and well-controlled for surprisingly good handling by full-size suv standards. The escalades deliver the comfort and amenities of a luxury sedan, including automatic climate control, heated leather seats, navigation, rearview camera, premium bose audio, ultrasonic parking assist, and power-adjustable pedals. Dvd entertainment systems and a moonroof are also available. built on gm's full-size truck platform and equipped with a 403-horsepower, 6. 2-liter v8, the escalade, esv, and ext make good tow vehicles. They share their platforms with the chevy tahoe, suburban, avalanche, and silverado. Towing trailers doesn't get any better than this and it's luxurious cruising for passengers, as well. the 2010 cadillac escalade gets a few upgrades. For 2010, the standard 6. 2-liter v8 features active fuel management, which shuts off half the engine's cylinders in certain conditions in order to reduce fuel consumption. The clock has been upgraded and a new battery-saver mode is designed to preserve the battery charge against extended accessory use. The hybrid comes with a 60/40-split rear bench seat only to allow for the battery pack underneath it. the platinum edition includes everything in the luxury package plus upgraded aniline leather with french seams, color-contrast stitching and the cadillac logo embroidered in the front seats. Additional leather is used for trim on the dash, center console, and doors, complemented by unique wood and aluminum trim, door sills and floor mats. The grille is flanked by three-element, vertical headlamps that tie the vehicle to the rest of cadillac's lineup; led headlights on the platinum are a first in trucks or suvs. As with the front end, there is abundant chrome, including on the door handles, the exterior mirrors, side moldings, full-length roof rails (which provide anchor points for accessory crossbars for securing cargo on the roof) and ventilation ports above the front wheels; the latter is a styling trend, but on the escalade they are not functional. another clear response to market trends are the optional 22-inch chrome wheels, which visually plant the vehicle, completely filling the escalade's huge wheelwells and making the standard 18-inch wheels look positively puny by comparison. They look great, though for reasons beyond cosmetics we prefer the 18-inch wheels. the pull-type door handles are easy to grasp, particularly appreciable in cold climates when wearing gloves. On the escalade they are rendered in crisp led strips. A high-mounted, horizontal brake light with led illumination crosses the top. But the dominant feature of the escalade's rear is the enormous badge set within a chunky block of chrome trim, reminding everyone that they are following a cadillac. the liftgate opens and closes by pushbutton as a hatch or glass-only for lighter items, a convenient feature. Interior fit and finish is very nice. The mix of soft, padded materials, genuine aluminum accents, chrome details and convincing faux wood combines with soft leather seats for an ambience on par with other luxury suvs. Stepping up to the platinum upgrades the existing leather and features details such as unique door sills and floor mats. the escalade comes standard with seven-passenger seating: front bucket seats, second-row bucket seats separated by a center console, and a three-passenger bench for the third row. the hybrid seats eight and the ext seats five because they come with a three-passenger bench seat in the second row.
