Denali luxury now with crew cab room. introductionthe gmc sierra is nearly identical to the chevy silverado but features more mature, restrained styling. With their 5-foot, 8-inch cargo box, sierra crew cabs are no longer than standard-bed, extended-cab models for easier parking and maneuverability. The 1500hd crew cab, which returns for 2005 after a one-year hiatus, can tow up to 10,200 pounds. Even the plush denali tows 8,100 pounds. yet all sierras deliver a smooth, comfortable ride among the full-size pickups. Even compared to more recently introduced or re-engineered pickups from ford, dodge, and nissan, the sierra rides and handles very well. Although nominally classified as light duty or 'half-ton' trucks, the 1500s offer payloads ranging from 1,215 to 2,040 pounds, and tow ratings from 4,100 up to 9,000 pounds, depending on equipment. That's all the truck most consumers will ever need. engine choices include a 4. 3-liter v6, 4. 8-liter v8, and 5. 3-liter v8. Available only as a crew cab with a 6-foot-6-inch bed (instead of the standard 1500 crew cab's 5-foot-8-inch bed), the 1500hd hauls 3,073 pounds with 2wd, 2,766 pounds with 4wd, and tows 10,200 pounds. Smooth and responsive. introductionthe honda odyssey has been a bestseller ever since the second generation was introduced in 1999. When the all-new third generation was introduced as a 2005 model, honda showed it wasn't resting on its laurels. Power door locks with remote keyless entry, power windows, and 60/40 split fold-down rear seats come standard. the ex 28,395) adds power sliding doors, tri-zone climate control, a stowable second-row plusone seat, in-dash cd changer, steering wheel audio controls, power driver seat controls, alloy wheels and other features. It has a slightly stiffer suspension, run-flat tires, front and rear parking sensors, automatic tri-zone climate control, a power tailgate, power-adjustable pedals, an upgraded sound system, 17 cupholders, and all the features found in the ex with leather. That's stretching it a bit, though it looks curvy in profile and there is a similarity to the accord in the front end. large headlights flank its big grille. The hood is sculptured with curves that lead naturally back to the windshield and emphasize the big fender flares. Honda has not hidden the sliding door channels at the base of the window but left them partially obscured by a crease that runs the length of the vehicle. all models come with two sliding doors, manually operated on the lx and electrically operated on all other models. The power windows in each of the side doors can be opened in the same fashion as in a car. The power doors seemed a bit reluctant to operate at times, less responsive to key fob commands than toyota's sliding doors. the odyssey boasts honda's advanced compatibility engineering (ace) body structure. The vehicle's crush zones have been re-engineered to provide better protection for occupants while lessening damage when hitting other smaller vehicles and pedestrians. Its body structure is rigid, a key element for crisp handling and a smooth ride. A low drag coefficient helps improve fuel economy and high-speed stability. interiorinside, the honda odyssey is comfortable and convenient. It feels downright luxurious when ordered with leather trim. The materials are nice and the metallic-colored trim that runs across the center dash is attractive. the driver's seat is designed to hold the driver more firmly and is positioned in a car-like setting. The shift lever is mounted on the dashboard; it looks odd at first, but it's easier to use than a column-mounted shifter. A handy drink tray is provided between the front seats, but there's no center console. the second-row bucket seats are comfortable. the third-row seat is split 60/40 and folds easily into the well provided for it, and the headrests do not need to be removed before folding. there's room for eight people with the optional plusone seat that fits between the two captain's chairs in the second row. If it's not needed as a seat it can be turned into a table or stowed in the floor in place of the lazy susan bin. If the plusone seat is not being used, the right-hand seat can be slid across to allow easier access to the third-row seats. This flexibility makes the odyssey a versatile people hauler, but it's not the best in the class for hauling cargo. the optional voice-activated dvd navigation system includes zagat restaurant data. The large eight-inch monitor is positioned high on the dashboard for easy viewing. The voice-activated system responds to 637 commands and is smart enough to understand different accents and find locations without any need for input other than by voice. Apart from navigation, the system can be used to operate the radio and climate controls. We found the system responds effectively to voice commands. the available dvd entertainment system features a large nine-inch widescreen display that folds out of the ceiling. The wireless headsets turn on and off automatically as the ear pads are rotated. No, it's not for serving food, but for adding an incredibly useful hidden storage area. The previous odyssey had a storage well under the floor of the front seats for the spare tire. Honda engineers have moved the spare to a location in the rear. Instead of removing the round space under the floor where the spare used to reside they've turned it into a hidden storage compartment with a rotating compartmentalized bin. There's a small access panel in the floor between the two front seats for front passengers to get access and another bigger one in front of the center-row seats for access. So whatever stuff is stowed in the lazy susan, front or middle-row passengers can turn it for access. Honda's goal with this latest-generation model was to produce a minivan with the handling of a european sedan. the odyssey belies its size on the road and handles like a premium sedan. We found its handling and ride pleasant for long drives as well as around town. during a test drive along country roads near the honda factory in alabama, we found the odyssey offered a perfectly pleasant ride. It was neither too firm nor too soft. Granted, there is some road vibration. It was no worse than in a chrysler town & country, however, and many people will not notice as it's a common trait of many large cars and most suvs. All in all, it's an ideal vehicle for a long-distance drive. several laps around a race track showed the odyssey to be stable at high speeds. And we were surprised how much we could chuck it into corners. We found we could drive hard enough into a sharp corner to feel the tires slip without any drama. We could not feel much body roll (lean) in corners, and an odyssey lapping in front of us looked remarkably stable for a tall vehicle. parking is easy. The turning radius is among the tightest of any minivan, making it an easy to make u-turns and maneuver in parking lots. The park-assist system, with beeping tones that warn the driver of other bumpers front and rear, helps considerably when parallel parking. straight-line acceleration is good, better than other minivans. Yet despite having 244 horsepower going through the front wheels, the odyssey is almost devoid of any torque steer. the odyssey's 3. 5-liter v6 engine is smooth, powerful, clean and fuel efficient. Both versions of the v6 generate the same amount of power: 244 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque (though the ivtec generates its peak torque at 4500 rpm vs. 5000 rpm for the vtec). If it looks like horsepower figures are lower for 2006, it's due to a change in how the society of automotive engineers tests engines. No change has actually been made to the engines. the brakes work well. Every odyssey comes with anti-lock brakes (abs) and vehicle stability assist, honda's electronic stability control system. This system works in conjunction with the drive-by-wire accelerator and abs to modulate the brakes while managing the throttle and ignition. If the vehicle starts to lose grip on a tight turn on a slippery surface, the system automatically slows the engine and gently applies brakes to stop the vehicle from skidding out of control. In a test on a soaking skid pad we found the system works well. Fortunately it only works in emergency situations so it's not distracting during normal spirited driving. It can be turned off, though we recom.

With nearly 900,000 annual sales, the f-150 has been the best-selling vehicle (car or truck) in america for 21 consecutive years. now, they've thrown away the old formula and created a brand new f-150 from the ground up. ford admits the new f-150 is bigger, heavier, and more expensive to build than the wildly successful previous version. It is also the best-handling, quietest, most car-like full-size pickup truck in the history of the world. All of the new f-150 models feature all-new interiors that show attention to detail. The seats vary, but all are comfortable and supportive. Each boasts its own interior style and features engines, suspensions and cab configurations designed to meet specific needs. It features an all-new work-truck interior and comes with all the basics such as 40/20/40 bench seats in vinyl or cloth, an all-plastic dashboard, a black grille and 17-inch steel wheels. Xl is available in regular cab or supercab styles. An f-150 xl regular cab 2wd automatic retails for $21,215, while a long-wheelbase (145-inch) 4x4 is priced at $24,855. stx is sportier than the xl, with a body-colored grille surround for the black bar grille, and 17-inch cast aluminum wheels. Stx comes in styleside (flat) and flareside (fendered) body styles, in regular cab or supercab, with either a 6. 5-foot or a 5. 5-foot cargo box. An audiophile sound system with subwoofer and six-disc cd changer is optional. An stx starts at $22,215. (manufacturer's suggested retail prices do not include the destination charge of $795.) xlt is ford's volume model and comes with its own egg crate grille style. A premium cloth interior is standard on the bench seats or optional captain's chairs. The xlt instrument panel gets more flash than either the xl or stx dash. Supercrew and supercab versions offer power rear windows. The xlt comes with the new overhead rail console system and fog lamps when ordered as a 4x4. Xlt supercab 4x4 4. 6-liter v8 automatic retails for $30,085 msrp. fx4 is a specialty 4x4 off-road model. Fx4 comes only in a stepside version with special chrome interior trim and markings, and a floor console with floor shifter. Fx4 is available in regular cab, supercab and supercrew body styles with either 5. 5-foot styleside or 6. 5-foot flareside or styleside bed designs (no 8-foot bed). The standard engine is the 300-horsepower 5. 4-liter 3-valve-per-cylinder v8, which ford says has the best fuel consumption of any v8 engine it has ever built. The fx4 has its own instrument package as do the rest of the models, with carbon mesh accents on the metallic dashboard. Captain's chairs in cloth or leather and the audiophile system are optional, and 18-inch cast aluminum wheels are optional. An f-150 fx4 supercab 4x4 5. 4-liter v8 automatic retails for $32,185. lariat is the luxury model and, for the time being, sits at the top of the line. Lariat has its own grille design and comes standard with 18-inch wheels. It amplifies the all-new interior with black-on-cream instrumentation, lots of wood trim and brushed metal, a multi-function steering wheel, and a shiny floor shifter mounted in a floor console. A power 40/20/40 split bench seat with seat memory is standard, along with power adjustable floor pedals, an in-dash message center, and climate control. Heated power leather captain's chairs are optional. Lariat 2wd models are available in all three body styles, but 4x4 versions are only available with styleside fenders. The nearest competitor has only 12 variations, a fact that ford hopes will bring more people into its dealerships. In addition to the 26 variants of the f-150 within the five model ranges, there are dozens of options,. walkaroundall ford f-150s now have the front window style popularized on the f-250 and f-350 super duty pickups: a sharp cut in the forward part of the door sheet metal that drops away to allow much clearer viewing of the large rearview mirrors on both sides. the whole nose is shaped more squarely, the grilles are larger and bolder, the bodyside and cargo box sheet metal is more sculpted, and every bed, no matter which length or style, is two inches taller than previous beds to give more margin when hauling larger cargoes. It's the seven-crossmember skeleton onto which everything else bolts, and accounts for quite a bit of the nearly 675 pounds more weight of the new f-150 compared to the old truck. The frame is nine times more resistant to twisting and 50 percent more resistant to bending than the old c-shaped frame. the front suspension is a completely new double-wishbone style for both 2wd and 4wd versions. The rear suspension now has outboard, rather than inboard, shock absorbers to control the rear end of the truck better in quick maneuvers, along with wider, heavier three-inch leaf springs. the steering has been changed to a heavy-duty power-assisted rack-and-pinion system. The ford truck folks committed only one unpardonable by us: the clear plastic over the instrument pod is way, way too reflective and makes most of the instruments difficult to see in bright sunlight. Ford says that, between these two things, the 5. 4-liter engine, which makes a nice, round 300 horsepower and 335 foot-pounds of torque, is also the fuel-stingiest engine the company has ever tested. 2010 chrysler sebring review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. For 2010, changes to the sebring include a sleeker hood, new wheel designs, a revised instrument cluster, and driver and front passenger active head restraints. The sedan seats five. The trunk is small for the class and has a small opening, however. the sebring convertible is available with a conventional soft top or a retractable hardtop, which distinguishes it from its competitors. More than half of the available space in the convertible's trunk is taken up by the top mechanism when the top is down. the sebring cabin is pleasant. The look is sleek, and it is all nicely integrated and finished. Some of the interior surfaces are cold and hard to the touch, however. With an available dvd rear-seat entertainment system, navigation and uconnect, the sebring's available technology is as good as or better than anything in the class. in driving behavior and feel the sebring fits in the middle of the midsize class. We found ride quality to be generally pleasant, soaking up most bumps well. Handling is competent in the sedan. The 2. 7-liter v6 will run on gasoline or e85, the combination of 85-percent ethanol and 15-percent gasoline. Standard equipment includes air conditioning; power door locks, windows, and exterior mirrors; carpeted floor mats; fold-flat front passenger seat; 60-40 split folding rear seat; cruise control; tilt and telescoping steering wheel; and an am/fm/cd/mp3 sound system. Some options are grouped into packages, including an electronic convenience group, which includes automatic air conditioning, fog lamps, temperature gauge and compass, map lights, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, remote start, garage-door opener, and tire pressure monitor 1,010). There is also electronic stability control 425), sunroof 845), uconnect phone 360), and a navigation and sound package that includes the uconnect phone and navigation 1,780). With the v6 engine, 18-inch wheels and tires are standard. the sebring lx convertible 27,850) features a power vinyl soft top, six-way power front seats, power mirrors, air conditioning, rear defroster, a six-speaker sound system and 16-inch wheels and tires. Sedans have head-protecting side curtain airbags for both seating rows. Electronic stability program plus traction control and brake assist, which enhances emergency braking, are optional, and we recommend it. The convertible also has a shortened coupe-like greenhouse, and is 3. 2 inches longer overall. Both ride on the same 108. 9-inch wheelbase and share the same 61. 8-inch front and rear track. Tires and wheels are interchangeable. viewed head on, both body styles feature the current rendition of the idiomatic chrysler grille: egg-crate with bright horizontal strips and topped by the brand's winged crest. A substantial, but otherwise unremarkable bumper tops a slim lower air intake bracketed by two, smaller, grille-like openings at the outer ends of which pods provide housings for fog lamps. there are differences in balance and proportion between the sedan and convertible. Were the convertible designed as a traditional soft top, we daresay it'd look better. But the retractable hardtop required added length that unsettles the design. the sedan is decorated with creased character lines on its sides. Flowing rearward from the front quarter panels, these creases spread, expanding the distance between them and emphasizing the car's sharply outlined wedge shape. Mild fender blisters circle the wheel openings. Body-color, anti-ding door moldings are optional on all trim levels. Side windows are framed in flat black. the convertible uses the same basic design as the sedan, but the wheelbase looks too long and there's too much of the hindquarters for a two-door. If the expanse of metal between the trailing edge of the door and the rear wheelwell were halved, then it would fit. But there has to be some place to store large segments of an articulated, metal roof, along with the motors, pumps, and other hardware necessary to lower and raise it. On the sebring convertible, this results in a bulbous back end, with a top surface area nearly the equal to that of the hood. Also, to allow the retracted roof to fit inside the rear quarters, the rearmost edges of the rear pillars must be drawn inward. This awkwardly positions the retractable hardtop roof more on top of the rear fenders than allowing it to smoothly flow down into the side of the car. The look is better on soft top convertibles because the top looks more like a separate piece than an integrated whole. at the rear of both body styles, large, multi-element taillights wrap around the rear fenders, crossing over into the trunk lid, which has a modest, molded-in lip at its trailing edge. The sedan's trunk lid is shorter than the convertible's trunk lid. The sedan also has a visually jarring inset rear window, which seems to be an effort, however futile, to enlarge the trunk opening while maintaining the desired top-to-bottom proportions. the sedan's trunk has 13. 6 cubic feet of cargo room, but the opening is small, so it won't accept larger boxes.
